Martha Graham on Expression

This following quote from Martha Graham is so true; the unique expression that is you should be expressed, and this is a main theme here at Modern Art Quotes.
"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, not how it compares with other expression. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others."

-Martha Graham

Fortunately for me I believe in myself and my work; (EdsArtWorkshop.com). I feel like I have been blessed with creative thinking and expression, something that is essential to my happiness and my life. This reminds me of one of my favorite poems of all time: Skid Row Wine by Jack Kerouac, here are two lines from it:

"To know that nothing matters after all...",

"...to know it young and be a poet"

Hopefully If everything goes well, I will be able to paint and create mostly full time for many many years to come. Well I can dream anyways,...right? And that is my dream, to be able to have a full studio with lots of space and quiet surroundings, where I can spend all day for weeks on end painting and drawing. An ecologically built barn in the woods somewhere, that would be nice; now if I can just get my girlfriend to go along with it.
