Wheel of Time Quote From "New Spring" by Robert Jordan

Sadly, has many of you know, Wheel of Time fantasy series author Robert Jordan died last Year. This quote is from the prequel to the series, New Spring. Considered the best modern fantasy series by a lot of people, Jordan's WOT was in it's 11the book when he passed away. As the series went on it seemed to get away from Jordan, becoming so expansive, so large, so full of millions of perfect details and characters, storylines etc., that it was awe-inspiring and frustrating at the same time. An epic of this realness and magnitude has maybe never been matched, (about 7000 pages total) but you knew he would never be able to finish it.

I remember like yesterday beginning the books in middle school, I remember the naive characters as they started out their perilous journey. I've traveled with them now for years, seen them grow while I have, and I feel like I know them. I'll miss them, and Jordan's wonderful writing. Some author named Brandon Sanderson is going to finish the series; Googling his website and scanning it briefly, I must say I am not impressed. But then how could I be? Robert Jordan is a master of fantasy, he will go down as Tolkien's equal and stands alone has the modern giant in the genre. There is no one that money could buy that can replace him. While we are left with a void in our hearts, Jordan's unique vision and his level of detailed perfection in writing will get the respect that it's due, and his characters live on in our mind's eye.
