I agree and disagree with this quote from Aristotle. I agree with it completely in the sense that working for someone else for an extended period of time can definitely keep you from accomplishing your own goals of course. Becoming too tired day after day to ever do anything to improve your life, while more idealogical paths seem to get farther away. Giving the best hours of everyday away for a wage can be very dull and monotonous.

Of course one can't expect (or shouldn't) to have things come easily for them. That old phrase work smarter not harder comes to mind. So, I disagree with the quote in the sense that learning and thinking can occur while working for someone else. And in the sense that working for oneself, (art, business, music, whatever) and getting paid for it is not only beneficial to the mind but a dream come true.
