Ink Drawing by Ed Tajchman, Roots of the Self

Here I present another one of my (Ed Tajchman's) ink drawings. It will be finished with watercolor eventually.   This is more figurative based obviously then some of my other new work I've featured here recently and at my recently redesigned website: Eds Art Workshop.

You can see in the drawing, starting from the left; a barn owl, a face on a stone tablet, elements from a mask like face, then the torso of a young man holding onto a branch from a tree. The tree also frames the two other faces and the barn owl. There is also a sun with a design similar to what's on the boy's hat, and the boy is holding onto lightning. Through enlightenment, the sun, epiphany, revelation, the lightning, and understanding previous paths, ancestors etc, the masks, the tree - roots, one understands oneself better. An Owl can be a symbol of wisdom.

But really my enjoyment comes from letting the work stand on it's own, and hearing about what other people see in my work. The meaning is not meant to be set in stone by any means.
